A downloadable game for Windows

<Made for the 2020 GADIG Jamfest>

This is the most realistic looking game you'll ever play.  In this visual text-adventure, a seamless world is  brought to life with 600 lines  of C++ spaghetti code, 78 short mp4 videos, and 1 large .json file.  Interact with the environment using the command line and solve tricky puzzles to escape the closet that some guy locked you in, for some reason.

[Note that playing this game requires the VLC media player. Make sure to have VLC downloaded before playing!  Download at https://www.videolan.org/vlc/]

Made by Daniel Fuerlinger

For using JSON in C++ I used  nlohmann::json, available at  https://github.com/nlohmann/json

Install instructions

1. Download the .zip folder.

2. Unzip it in whatever directory you like.

3. Make sure you have the VLC media player downloaded (download at https://www.videolan.org/vlc/). It is needed to run the game, and you will be asked to enter the file destination of "vlc.exe" upon launching the game. It is most likely in your Program Files folder under VideoLAN\VLC.

4. Run the "Protolares.exe" executable which is in the root directory of the unzipped Protolares folder.

5.  Read the game's instructions carefully and have fun!
